A few U.S. Navy "tin can" sailors gathered at Punta Gorda's Veterans Memorial Garden the other day to commemorate shipmates and from the class of ships that helped win the Battle II battle of North Atlantic.
Christmas, and also the good people of Ohio were carrying out their ordinary lives: in the downtown office buildings, disgruntled temps put cover sheets on TPS reports, in the Farmers Market, housewives dickered with greengrocers over the fee for Bartlett pears, while in West Hollywood, apple-cheeked young ladies with a stars in their eyes and dreams in their hearts desired someone cosign the financing for their breast betterment. Pretty typical. But beneath the comforting rhythms of daily life, at the present time was definitely not typical and the students at my school knew it.
